The search engine optimization divided into two parts, one is on page optimization and the other is off page optimization.In On page SEO what we can done on the webpage itself. Off page SEO is used to improve the position of the webpage in the search engine. This article contains the different steps of on line optimization. choose keywords, page title, meta description, URL, heading tags, page content, add a call to action, internal links and images are the different steps of on page optimization.

On Page Optimization steps

Search Engine Optimization is mainly divided into two basic areas. They are
  • On Page Optimization
  • Off Page Optimization

In On page SEO what we can done on the webpage itself. Off page SEO is used to improve the position of the webpage in the search engine. Many people associate off-page SEO with link building.

Here we are mainly dealing with On Page Optimization and the several steps of On Page Optimization. In Search Engine Optimization, On Page Optimization Refers to all measures that can be directly taken by the website to improve the website position in the search rankings. Basically it is the effort which you put on the website and it is very clearly visible. Examples of On Page Optimization include the following,
  • Optimizing the existing content
  • HTML code corrections
  • Remove broken/ dead links
  • Add Meta/ Alt Tags
  • Add Goggle and XML Site Map
  • Analytic Setup

It is very important to correctly done the On Page Optimization to websites. Usually this is done once for a website, but it is very good to done after every 3 month to keep the site fresh for search engine.

There are several steps for On Page Optimization, they all are very important so don’t skip it.

Step 1: Choose Keywords

Read the page content and select two relevant keywords. One is the primary keyword relevant to the page’s content and other is variation of for that keyword. If you can’t identify one primary keyword for a page, you will create a new website pages to separate the different content. If the page is not clear then the visitors never understand the page.

Step 2: Page Title

The page title appears on the top left part of the browser bar in the Google page, and also it is blue, bolded, underlined text. The guidelines to the page title given below:
  • Be under 70 characters with no more than two long-tail keywords per page title
  • The primary keyword should appear first
  • Each keyword should separated by pipes(|)
  • Each page title is unique for a website
  • Except for your homepage and contact us page, each page title should NOT include your business name.

Step 3: Meta Description

The Meta description is placed just below the Page Title. It helps the people to decide whether to click on the result or not.
  • Be under 150 Characters(but not under 100 characters
  • Include the primary keyword and at least one secondary keyword
  • Provide a valuable, compelling reason for why someone should visit the page
  • Include keywords in a conversational format

Step 4: URL

The URL should contain the primary keyword, and also the words in the URL should be separated by dashes (-).

Step 5: Heading Tags

The heading must have one H1 tag. This H1 tag should be appearing in the top of the page and which is the first thing people see when they arrive on a page.

Step 6: Page Content

The primary keyword must use more than one place and secondary keywords also mention in the page. The keywords must be in bold and underlined; this shows the importance of the keyword in the page.


Step 7: Add a Call to Action

Every webpage have at least one call to action above the page’s fold. Call to action creates an internal link on your website to a specific landing page and this will help the SEO.

Step 8: Internal Links

The internal link is a type of hyperlink on a webpage to another page. Anchor text () is used to link a particular word. For example you should link a page about SEOusing anchor text “SEO”.

Step 9: Images

Any images used in a page can be optimized so that search engine can read the image. Images can be optimized in two ways.
  • Filename(here each word separated by dashes)
  • ALT text(here the filename without dashes)
